Waiting for the Weekend

The Swift Current Broncos have most of the week off before heading to Regina Friday to play the Pats. Then Saturday they begin a five-game homestand against teams like Prince Albert, Red Deer, Moose Jaw, Edmonton and Kootenay.

The team goes into the weekend generally healthy although F Dane Muench is a question mark suffering from a knee injury.

The Broncos can expect Friday nights game to be a big one for the Pats faithful. It will be the home ice return for F Jordan Eberle. The Broncos have won seven straight against the Pats going back to last season but this year the teams line-up pretty similiar.

Both have a handful of skill up front, both have two older anchors on the blue line and then get young in a hurry. Both have starting goaltenders with similar league experience.

Meanwhile Saturday night will be the 2nd meeting of the season between the Broncos and Prince Albert Raiders. It was a goaltender's battle last Wednesday in P.A. when the Raiders picked up a 3-1 win.

Sunday, the Red Deer Rebels come in for a visit. It will be my first look at WHL superstar in the making Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Perhaps it's a chance for Broncos G Morgan Clark to burn his former team. You know he'll be thinking about it.
