Broncos Blanked; Streak Ends

Two Brandon 2nd period goals less than three minutes a part was the game's only offensive outburst as the Wheaties blanked the Broncos 3-0 at Westman Place tonight.

The Broncos mustered only 16 shots on goal and two powerplay opportunities in a game that didn't feature a lot of whistles.

The Broncos were without F Michael Stickland and F Dane Muench.

It was the first ever WHL start for Alex Sirard. He played well, allowing two goals on 25 shots. The Wheat Kings added an empty-netter late in the third period.

The game also marked the end of a long lasting streak for the Broncos. Tonight was the first time they were shutout in the regular season in 153 straight games. A streaking dating back to March 2nd, 2007 when the Broncos were blanked in Medicine Hat 3-0.

It's a streak we've talked about for some time now. The Broncos dodged the shutout bullet a few times over the 153 game stretch - including a last second goal from Keegan Dansereau in Brandon last season.

The Broncos host the 0-3 Lethbridge Hurricanes tonight at the Credit Union i-plex. Face-off at 7:30pm.
