The Western Hockey League announced today that defenceman Alex Petrovic of the Red Deer Rebels will play for Team WHL in the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series game on Wednesday, November 17th, in Kamloops, BC.
Petrovic replaces Matt MacKenzie of the Calgary Hitmen, who is unable to participate Wednesday due to the flu. The Edmonton, AB, product is in his third full season with the Red Deer Rebels. Drafted by the Rebels in the 2nd round of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, the Florida Panthers made Petrovic their 2nd round – 36th overall selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 20 games this season collecting one goal and 15 assists for 16 points along with 42 PIM.
The WHL also announced today that Brendan Ranford will be replacing the Vancouver Giants forward Brendan Gallagher for the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series game on Wednesday, November 17th, in Kamloops, BC. Gallagher will be playing in game six of the series Thursday, November 18th, in Prince George, BC.
