Hey Jon, just curious... Where do you think Tim will end up?

Jon Keen said...

I'm not sure. A smart guy like that will end up on his feet.

There's a couple of head coaching jobs out there and several assistant jobs across the WHL right now.

There goes the best part of the post-game show.

He could have been the next head coach here in a year or two. I hope the Broncos don't close the book on that.

Stand-up guy with a wit and deep understanding of the game. All the best Tim!

What was the reason for his departure?

Jon Keen said...

Just the nature of the hockey business.

Hey Jon,

It seems like Mark has someone in mind. Any idea of when an announcement will be? Any idea of who it will be?

Who will be Tim's successor?

Jon Keen said...

It's a bit pre-mature at this point.

Sorry CDSC, please repost your comment. I accidentally denied it.

Sure. I said that Kehler is a lead wolf. He turned a program around in Trail and had that program in a position that it was ready to challenge for a BCHL title when he came to the WHL. Tim is as knoweldgeable and intelligent as they come. However, the WHL right now is almost impossible to land a head coach job in right now. He may need to go back and get himself a junior A championship or a small college (ACAC)championship as a head coach. He is fully capable of doing so. That Trail program fell apart when he left and will never be the same. I believe that he still may need some more head coach experience before he will get that 'must hire' title. I sure hope he keeps going and goes for it. They may bring in an experienced guy, but Kehler's intelligence and versatility will never be matched. I really hope it works for him.

The only thing that stinks about the choice Mark made not to renew Tim Kehler's contract is that everybody but Tim knew that it was going to happen and that Darren Evjen was going to be his replacement. Mark, as the head coach/G.M., has the right to make those decisions but should have showed more professionalism and let Tim know as soon as he started talking to Darren. As for Darren Evjen, what has he done in junior hockey, one part season as a replecement assistant coach in Moose Jaw and one season in Notre
Dame. Darren should have been more upfront with Notre DAme instead of saying he had to resign to spend more time with my family and that coaching can wait, you can only be a parent once. I sure thought that Mark Lamb, with all his contacts, could have brought in a more qualified assistant. I also hear rumblings that MArlk Lamb will only be here for one more season at the most and may be gone before next season.
