Wagner's Hat-Trick Leads Broncos

Dillon Wagner's deflection of a Joel Rogers point shot with three minutes to play turned out to be the game winner as the Broncos defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-4 for their 2nd road win of the season.

The goal was credited to Joel Rogers but will be changed in the coming days to reflect the Wagner deflection. Wagner doubles his goal total from three to six in a night. It was his first career WHL hat-trick.

F Andrew Sullivan scored his first goal of his WHL career early in the third to tie the game 2-2. He created a turnover along the boards and scored from the high slot. It was a big goal to get the Broncos going after a lacklustre 2nd period.

The goal of the night however belonged to F Justin Dowling. J.D. scored on a 200 foot end-to-end rush which included a toe-drag move on Warriors D Dylan Mcllrath and a shot upstairs over the glove on G Brandon Glover.

WHL Plays of the Week? It's a no-doubter.

------------

Matt Tassone played his first game in almost nine months as he returned to the Broncos line-up coming off double off-season shoulder surgery.

As he stated, he didn't shy away. He led the team in hits and looked like his usual self. His hands aren't quite there yet as you would expect. He was held off the scoresheet but played an effective game in his season debut.

------------

The Broncos will pick-up their newest member today at the Saskatoon airport en-route to Prince Albert to take on the Raiders.

G Mark Friesen was acquired in a deal yesterday for a 3rd round bantam pick. Expect the Broncos to go with two 19 year-olds in goal for the time being. Morgan Clark and Friesen will split time in goal with the starting position up for grabs.

The question is what does the future hold for G Alex Sirard?

-------------

I fully expect Hockey Canada to name Broncos F Cody Eakin to it's World Junior Selection Camp roster today. They will name a 36 man roster later this morning.

Eakin has done it all this season. He should get serious consideration for one of the coveted spots at forward. Canada's camp opens December 11th in Regina.

There could be seven players invited from the WHL's east division alone. Brayden Schenn, Scott Glennie and Colby Robak in Brandon. Colton Teubert and Jordan Eberle in Regina and D Travis Hamonic in Moose Jaw.

It shows you the talent this east division has this season.

Check back later this morning to get the latest on the World Junior Selection Camp roster.....

I thought maybe Clark would be the odd man out, not Sirard....I could be wrong.

Yes, me to. Can't really see them keeping two 19 y/o goaltenders. Need to get some playing time and prepare one of the young guys.
