The Broncos begin a two-game weekend homestand by hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors tonight at the Credit Union i-plex.
F Matt Tassone will play on home ice for the first time since February of last season. Tassone returned back to the Broncos line-up Tuesday in Moose Jaw and also played Wednesday in Prince Albert. So far the over-ager has collected an assist. I'm betting he scores tonight.
Could it also be the first start in goal for newly acquired goaltender Mark Friesen. Friesen played the third period in Prince Albert Wednesday with the Raiders up 4-1 to start the third period.
The Warriors have struggled without their captain Jason Bast in the line-up losing five of their last six games. I'm thinking their coaching staff probably felt there were some soft goals against Tuesday in the Broncos win. Although Warriors Assistant Coach Kevin Higo didn't really go there in the post-game show on Country 100 in Moose Jaw:
"For probably 45 minutes we were pretty good. We just fell apart with a lack of attention to detail and getting the job done. We gave them some opportunities that there were mistakes on our part. Don't take anything away from them (Broncos) they worked hard and did a lot of good things too. We have to shut the door and do a better job."
Goaltending will be under the microscope down the stretch with all the big games ahead. Only six points separated 3rd from 9th in the Eastern Conference.
More from the Credit Union i-plex tonight.
