Exciting Week Ahead

Broncos training camp opens Thursday with on-ice sessions at the Credit Union i-plex. It's an exciting time as we look forward to camp and the season just around the corner.

I spent some time with Head Coach/GM Mark Lamb last week. I'll try to blog some of his thoughts as he approaches his first camp with the Broncos.

Don't expect him to rush into any roster decisions or moves at this point. There is a lot for him to take in over the next few weeks/months and the local product will be taking his time to learn more about his roster/list players and what the needs for the hockey club will be moving forward.

As for the radio station side of things, our sales team has hit the city with Bronco advertising packages and we're hoping the response continues to be strong.

Once the sponsorship is in then we can move forward with some of the broadcast features both new and old. We will have some of the guys in to voice some production work and we will get it all together just in time for the season opener against Moose Jaw September 18th.

Personally, I don't get too carried away until the pre-season schedule is wrapped up. There will be a lot of player comings and goings over the next month.

My initial thoughts are the Broncos have some holes to fill and depth issues both up-front and on the back-end. Of course goaltending question marks continue to be the focus amongst Bronco fans.

I will say I think this team is in the "good" category amongst the Eastern Conference. They are further ahead than many teams but have a ways to go to be considered a contender.

I'll try to break down this team positionally over the week as well....watch for that.

As for the blog, it's received a green light from team management to continue coverage of the team from an in-depth perspective. Expect much of the same or more this season.

Have a great week,

Jon
