Blades 4 Blazers 3 - OT

It was the night of the 5-on-3 powerplay...

5-0n-3 powerplays were handed out like Halloween candy as the Blades scored 5-0n-3 in overtime for the 4-3 win.

Blame the two man system, or something else. The Blazers scored on a 5-on-3 to start the game just 2:51 seconds in. They would get a 2nd two-man advantage later in the game

I dare you to find another recent two-man advantage in overtime. It'a about as rare as moon-landing. Not only was it a 5-on-3, it was for a full two-minutes. The Blazers got through a 1:14, of it, but as soon as the powerplay was awarded, the result was inevitable.

The building was very loud in overtime as the fans showed their disdain for the calls from referees Iverson and Raphael for calls to Brendan Ranford and Chase Schaber.

Credit the Blades for playing hard in the third to come back from a 3-1 deficit. The Blades showed why they are the top team in the Eastern Conference - the best of the East teams I've seen this season.

Blazer D Corey Fienhage looked to suffer an injury late in the third period. He stayed on the bench but never saw action in the last seven minutes of the third and overtime.

The Blazers host the Calgary Hitmen tomorrow night at ISC to conclude a four-game homestand.

Note: All around the league, it seems like more and more centerman are getting waved out of draws or play is whistled down just after the puck is dropped to stop play. It happened time and time again in this contest. Centerman waved out of draws on both sides only slows the game down to a crawl.
