Habscheid to Chilliwack?

Gregg Drinnan is reporting the local product Marc Habscheid is the next Head Coach of the Chilliwack Bruins.

The native of Wymark has been out of the coaching game since June of 2007 when he let go as an Assistant Coach for the Boston Bruins.

I got a hold of Marc this afternoon at his Swift Current home. He won't confirm the report but said he would talk later in the week.

Chilliwack has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday. I'll have a transcript if it's made official at that time.

Jon, with Habscheid out of the picture in Swift Current, who do you think message board nerds will want Dean Chynoweth replaced by after the Broncos first two game losing skid?

Great question. Best way to predict the future is to study the past. I do remember a certain Broncos Assistant Coach getting a lot of play in a few years ago. So in sticking with that scenario it seems Tim Kehler is the next one to draw the favor of message boarders far and wide. Haha. We will see.

The Broncos missed the boat big time by letting Habscheid get away. By re-signing Dean, I hope it's not a decision we'll regret and have to live with later.

Fans in SC aren't really an impatient bunch. They are pretty knowledgeable. So don't blame them if they are not excited about continually losing in the first round. People wanted Habscheid because he is an infinitely better coach than Chynoweth. If another coach who is infinitely better comes along then I am sure they will want him too. Kehler is not that man. The message board is simply an indication of what people think. Very few people like Chynoweth other than the board cronies and people he socializes with who are just thrilled to hang around with him. As well, he seems to have a decent amount of support from those he 'pays' off with a golf trip at the cottage once in a while. Who needs a publicist when a few green fees and a few steaks make people support you.

Haha, maybe you should start a blog with all your information.

For any and all your information...Habscheid did not want the hometown job!!!

And that is a FACT JACK!!!!

Of course he wanted it. Why did it take so long in Chilliwack then? He was waiting to see what the board was going to do in Swift first. Once that door closed (for now) he jumped.

Jeez, how long until this goes away?

This topic should be over.....he is gone to Chilliwack!!!!

The only team he really was considering was Mosse Jaw, and that was just before Christmas. Talks dropped off and he waited it out for other offers.

The team that really missed the boat is Regina. The only reason Parker never hired habscheid in the first place is because he knew he could not control him. Parker needs/likes to be seen and herd, and Habscheid doesn't let anyone touch his team!!!!

When Habscheid said that it was not a good "FIT" for him and the Pats, Parker's "EGO" was crushed. So much so that Parker continues to reference Habscheids quote.

Great move Marc, you have control in Chilliwack. You have a good support group that will allow you the time to build a competitive team. The last thing you needed was a BOARD breathing down your back and questioning your every move in the coffee shops of Swift Current and Moose Jaw!!!
