Eakin to Washington

Broncos forward Cody Eakin was taken in the the 3rd round, 85th overall by the Washington Capitals this morning.

Just saw Eakin on the NHL Network do a little interview. I think he's a steal at this spot.

More later.

I wouldn't say the steal of all steals try telling that to the Wings who always find there best players. In the late rounds but still a steal for the Caps

eakin is a first rounder in my eyes. absolutely incredible player who is poised to be a very good professional player. I see a combination of Colin Fraser (not as tough but as good fundamentally) and Matt Ellison (great ability to attack offensive zone with speed) with a bit of Brandon Sutter (defensive prowess) mixed in there. Add it all up and you have one of the most complete players we have seen here in years. he is not a great playmaker but if that improves I can see eakin being a longtime 7-10th forward in the NHL. brilliant talent who just doesnt make mistakes. Washington got a very good player.

I thought Cody would of lit it up alittle more in Swift Current, but he is a PLAYER!!!

He will be playing in Swift for awhile and no doubt he will see time in the minors.

With that said and baring any future concussions, Cody will find his way onto the roster in a defensive role with Washington.

He is more than capable to score goals but with his speed and grit, he will find his way as 3rd line/role player.

Good pick by Washington and congratulations Cody.
