Broncos Deal with Prince George and Portland
The Swift Current Broncos have announced that they have traded 17-year-old goaltender Ian Curtis to the Prince George Cougars for 19-year-old defensemen Jesse Dudas and forward prospect Catlin Foley.
In addition, the Broncos have acquired 18-year-old goaltender Mark Guggenberger from the Portland Winter Hawks for a conditional 2009 draft pick.
“We wanted to solidify our backend at the deadline, with yesterdays deal and now the acquisition of Jesse we feel we have done that,” commented Broncos General Manager/Head Coach Dean Chynoweth. “We would like to wish Ian the best of luck in Prince George.”
Dudas is in his 4th season in the Western Hockey League and was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. 6’1”, 228 lbs. St. Albert, AB
Foley was originally drafted by the Cougars in the 6th round, 120th overall in the 2007 Bantam Draft and is native of Cornach, SK.
Head Coach Dean Chynoweth states “Catlin is presently playing in Notre Dame and will add to our young group of 1992 born forwards.”
Guggenberger is from Richfield, MN and is 6’3”, 208 lbs. He is in his 1st season in the WHL.

I like the trades, but it does give us 7 19 year olds....will there be mor deals perhaps or will that be done in the off season?
It's actually eight 19's. Yonkman, McAvoy, Dudas, Smith, Nelson, Wiese, Dansereau, Stieler
gave up Curtis? is that a smart move? how the heck does this Mark G.... measure up? Yonks has 1 year left.
Dudas is very injury prone and take ALOT of dumb penalties, but he is argueably as good offensively as wishart when on his game. He is also surprisingly physical.
I wasnt all that impressed when I saw him play, but perhaps that might change on the broncos. Though remember how big of a risk it is picking him up, seeing how injury prone he is.
I thought Steiler was 19 but someone posted on whlfans that he was only 18. I beg to differ but I also could be wrong.
