Congratulations to the Spokane Chiefs on a great WHL championship season.
The Chiefs were just too strong defensively and played a great team game in sweeping the Lethbridge Hurricanes with a 4-1 win last night.
Bill Peters is a top coach in this league and had his team playing their best in the WHL playoffs. Impressive.
Spokane didn't exactly have a paved road to the final. They swept the Everett Silvertips in round one - a team that was playing their best hockey of the year to close off the regular season. They then knocked off the defending Memorial Cup Champions in round two with a six game victory over the Vancouver Giants.
They took out the number one seeded Tri-City Americans in the Western Conference Final and then swept the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the league final.
Well deserved. Good luck in Kitchener.
