Shop Talk / BCHL Final

It's been fun to listen to a little WHL playoff radio...

Kudos to Les Lazaruk and Dave Thomas last night on 92.9 The Bull in Saskatoon.

I listened to the Blades broadcast last night and thought it was as entertaining of game I've heard in awhile. Lots of energy and enthusiasm. It was a treat to listen to.

Another broadcast I enjoyed last week was Regan Bartel's broadcast of game seven between the Kelowna Rockets and Everett Silvertips. There's nothing like a game seven and Regan and Gord were pretty jacked up in a wild third period.

Sounding great.

Another player with local ties has won a Junior championship.

18 year-old G Blake Voth from Herbert helped the Vernon Vipers to a BCHL Championship last night over the Powell River Kings.

The Vipers won last night's game seven 3-1 and now advance to play Fort McMurray in the Doyle Cup for the right to advance to the Royal Bank Cup.

Nobody listens to WHL radio. With most teams on twitter and league websites that update every two minutes there is no need to sit through boring play by play anymore. Hockey on the radio is dying. Get your resume to XM Mr. Bigshot.

Contrary to your (uneducated) belief, it's alive and well. Locally, we've had some of our best years revenue-wise over the last five years. Thanks for listening buddy.

Keener, Spruce Grove won the AJHL Championship last night with a 6-0 win over Fort Mac in Game 7...they'll play Vernon in the Doyle Cup.

P.S. Don't listen to those other goofballs who say radio is dead, I listened to a lot of Bronco games, and a couple of others this year as well, and I still enjoy it.
