As you can tell, this blog has fallen by the wayside...not a post since the WHL bantam draft last April.
With that said, it's not like the information has disappeared. Twitter can take responsibility somewhat for nearly wiping blogging off the map (at least mine anyways). The quick, convenient method to get info out or get something off your chest is just too convenient. Yes, for what media types do, twitter has clearly changed the game. It's changed all media.
At Radio NL, our debate the couple years is do we tweet information before it hits our airwaves first? Tough call. The goal should be really to try and drive the twitterverse back to our radio signal for information. Afterall, broadcasting is our bread & butter.
The window is relatively small. I mean, information travels so quickly these days, by the time you wait 20 minutes for the next sportscast, the story could have twisted or developed three more times.
Even blogging, the time it takes to compose a message, the story can be old news or as we say at NL "the Beatles broke-up".
However, I do think there are some advantages to blogging. a) You can get a lot of less timely information out at once without clogging up your twitter followers' timeline. b) You can offer up a good read for someone willing to sit down and sift through the information. c) it allows you to expand beyond 140 characters to get the whole story.
So, with this in mind...the blog is back, at least for now. It won't be a daily occurrence, but it won't lie dormant for nine months at a time either.
I'll have some thoughts on the Blazers and the second half of the season in the next couple days.
Till then...
